About Kirihama

Takeno, a seaside town in northern Hyogo Prefecture, faces the Sea of Japan. Its quiet lanes lined with homes clad in charred cedar, and the sea just beyond them, leave a lasting impression—especially in summer, when visitors from across the Kansai region come to enjoy its charm.

HACO–MEGANE stands just west of Takeno Beach, on a small coastal site known as Kirihama—slightly removed from the flow of people. Here, the only sound you’ll hear is the sea.

The beach is modest in size, stretching about 400 meters, but with its shallow, crystalline waters and rocky inlets, it’s long been loved by the local community.

And yet, it’s only about a 20-minute drive from the lively hot spring town of Kinosaki. You can enjoy peaceful seclusion—and still reach the bustle of sightseeing and onsen if you wish.

We hope you’ll find your own way to spend time here.

A Viewing Device Designed by an Architect

HACO–MEGANE is a private villa created to immerse yourself in the sea of Kirihama.

It began with a simple desire: to create a place where one could fully savor this seascape, and nothing more.

Designed by an architect, the house was carefully planned to make the most of Kirihama’s natural surroundings. Its central theme is, of course, “looking out at the sea.” Every window is placed with intention—framing the ocean view while softly shielding you from the outside world. Only light, wind, and sea enter the space.

The name HACO–MEGANE comes from a traditional fisherman’s tool— a wooden box with glass used to look into the sea.

We hope this place, too, can serve as a simple device for gazing into the sea.

Moments That Stay with You

HACO–MEGANE is a private villa reserved for one group per day. You can relax completely, at your own pace, with no need to worry about your surroundings.

Gaze at the sea as you listen to the waves, take your time cooking in the kitchen, walk along the beach, or settle in with a book.

On more active days, you might enjoy snorkeling, kayaking, or exploring the rocky shore. And if you feel like venturing out, the nearby towns of Takeno and Kinosaki Onsen offer sightseeing and hot springs.

Whatever your style of travel, your time here—shared with someone special—will become a lasting memory.
